Increasing horsepower and torque is as simple as pushing a button with Hypertech Power Programmer III Tuner ! Simply plug the Power Programmer into the underdash diagnostic plug, answer a series of "Yes/No" questions, and the Power Programmer does the rest. The Power Programmer is much more than a tuning chip. It is a self-contained automotive tuning computer!

When you connect the Power Programmer to your vehicle, its "smart" program instantly recognizes your vehicle's powertrain by reading the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). The VIN contains specific information on the engine, transmission, and drivetrain, which the Power Programmer decodes before it downloads the Power Tuning program that is precisely tailored to your car or truck.

Power Tuning is defined as experimentally adjusting both fuel flow and ignition timing relative to the airflow of an engine, over the entire RPM range and at full throttle, in order to deliver the most possible horsepower. Hypertech’s Engineers use computerized chassis dynos to develop optimized point-by-point, precise spark and air/fuel ratio curves for your vehicle’s engine and powertrain producing more horsepower and torque without sacrificing reliability. Hypertech’s engineers take a responsible approach to performance by matching increases in engine power to the drivetrain’s capabilities. In the old days, tuning meant you had to change carburetor jets and adjust distributor curves. It was tedious, dirty, and the results weren’t always what you expected. Hypertech Power Programmer III - Three-Stage Power Tuning

Hypertech now has two new part numbers for the Ford Power Stroke 7.3L diesel (part #41040 for 2001-2003 and part #41039 for 1999-2000). There are two additional new diesel releases: Part number #30021 is for the 2001-2004 GM 6.6L Duramax, and #50009 is for the 1998 1/2-2002 Dodge Cummins. To all of these, Hypertech has added three stages of power tuning, each designed to match a range of driving and towing needs. Of these, Stage Three is the strongest. For Ford Powerstroke 7.3L diesel, this Hypertech Power Programmer's stage provides an additional 100 horsepower and 164 ft.-lbs. of torque, with plus 90 horsepower and 150 ft.-lbs. of torque for GM Duramax!

Why does Hypertech Power Programmer III have two added tuning options?

When operated under heavy loads and for long periods of time, diesels can build up excessive heat in their engines and transmissions. When that occurs, the check-engine light may come on, or flash off and on, as a warning to either back off on the power level or lighten the load. While you can't always lighten the load, Hypertech Power Programmer's three-stage tuning lets you select the maximum power tuning level that can be safely used under high load conditions.

Why should you use the transmission shift firmness option which is available in the Hypertech Power Programmer?

Hypertech Power Programmer's transmission shift firmness should be used when non-stock tuning is programmed in the vehicle. At high boost levels and higher torque, the transmission needs to have firmer shifts. Hypertech Power Programmer III - Dual Fuel Tuning

Hypertech Power Programmer III Tuner is easing the pain of rising prices at the gas pump. Hypertech has developed exclusive "Dual Fuel" tuning calibrations that deliver virtually the same power increases with regular gas as they do with premium. Hypertech's Power Programmer III is the only device that offers this powerful Dual Fuel feature.

"The truth is that most trucks make exactly the same power on tuning optimized for regular as they do with optimized premium gas", explained Mark Heffington, the founder and president of Hypertech. "For these vehicles, there is never a reason to use more expensive premium unleaded gas."

While some competitors claim to have tuning for regular gas, their calibrations for regular gas typically make no more power than the stock tuning. Hypertech Power Programmer III - Top-Speed Limiter

When you feel the need for speed, Hypertech’s advanced Power Programmer III lets you electronically adjust your vehicle’s top speed limiter to match the speed rating of factory-approved high-performance tires. The maximum speed of many modern vehicles is governed by the onboard computer. The stock computer is programmed to shut down the engine when the vehicle exceeds the speed rating of the original equipment tires. But if you have installed tires with a higher speed rating for off-highway competition in sanctioned events, your vehicle may be able to achieve a faster top speed. A tire’s maximum safe speed under perfect conditions is marked on its sidewall. The codes for popular high-performance tires are: T = 118 mph, U = 124 mph, H = 130 mph, V = 149 mph, Z = 149+ mph.

Hypertech Power Programmer III - Speedometer/Odometer Correction

If you’ve installed non-stock tire sizes for more grip on the road, taller tires for more traction on the strip, or a different rear end gear ratio, you must reprogram your vehicle computer for correct speedometer and odometer readings, as well as correct part-throttle shifting. That’s because the electronic “brains” in late-model vehicles are programmed to work properly only with the factory-installed tire size and rear end gear ratio. The Hypertech Power Programmer III lets you reprogram your vehicles’s computer for non-stock tire sizes and/or rear gear ratios at the push of a button!

Here's how it works: The vehicle computer calculates your vehicle’s speed based on the diameter of the stock tires. If you’ve installed taller or shorter tires, or changed the rear axle ratio, the vehicle computer doesn’t know how fast your vehicle is really going. As a result, the automatic transmission may not shift correctly and the speedometer/odometer readings will not be accurate (as required by law).
